Black History Month Vs. Black History Monf

http://www.meadowvale.co.uk/Newsletters/October07/Meadow%20Vale%20Southern%20Fried%20Chicken.jpg

How many f**kin times am I going to have to write about this same thing? It almost makes me not want to eat any in public anymore. ALMOST.

Well according to Questlove, “In honor of Black History Month” Lunch at NBC looks a little more colored.

This is a twitpic from Questlove of the menu.  I half expect to see your choice of any 40 oz. beverage offered below:

For some reason, we as Black folk are almost synonymous with this fried Bird. Perhaps because we prepare it the best with only one foe:

ok, maybe two:

I’m not too sure how “Native American Fried Chicken”, “Caucasian Fried Chicken” or “Polynesian Fried Chicken” would go over.

Yet that’s beside the point.

As funny as 30 Rock is, I can’t let this slide.

This sh*t will never end!

Black History Month Vs. Black History Monf

To many, February can signify several different things:

(Why am I basing the next month and a half of my life around some sort of porcupine-rat-squirrel hybrid?)

But what about this one?

For 28 (and sometimes 29) days out of every 2nd month of the new year, we celebrate the milieu of accomplishments Black people have achieved. Black history month is not here just to educate Black folks on the excellences of one group, but to inspire, teach & unite people of all races & creeds to mesh  & make it all a shared history.  Contrary to popular belief, “they did not give us” the shortest month of the year.

Dr. Carter G. Woodson began Negro history week in 1926, corresponding with the birthdays of some Presidents you may have heard of. (One of which is a halfie.  I’ll let you figure that one out)

By 1976 it was renamed & had commandeered the entire month.

Sometimes, the milestones in the African diaspora are often marred by the…

ignorance it sometimes displays.

That is the exact concept behind Black History Month vs. Black History Monf.

P.S.: You will never see Dr. Carter G. Woodson & Lil’ Jon in such close proximity again.
